Policy Statement
Woodfelder Tree Care Limited is committed to providing a working environment that promotes dignity, equality, diversity, and mutual respect. We value individual differences and recognise that people from different backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives strengthen our business and the service we provide to our clients.
We are committed to ensuring that no employee, contractor, or applicant is treated less favourably on the grounds of a protected characteristic and that equality of opportunity is embedded in our working practices.
Scope
This policy applies to all employees, contractors, agency workers, and anyone working on behalf of Woodfelder Tree Care Limited.
What Diversity and Inclusion Mean to Us
Diversity means recognising, valuing, and respecting individual differences, including background, experience, skills, and perspectives.
Inclusion means creating an environment where everyone feels welcomed, respected, supported, and able to contribute fully.
Our Principles
1. Equality and Non-Discrimination
We do not tolerate discrimination, harassment, or victimisation on the basis of any protected characteristic as defined by the Equality Act 2010, including age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.
2. Respect and Dignity
All staff are expected to treat colleagues, clients, and members of the public with dignity and respect at all times. Bullying, harassment, or discriminatory behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in disciplinary action.
3. Recruitment and Fair Opportunity
Recruitment, selection, and progression decisions are based solely on skills, competence, attitude, and suitability for the role. We are committed to inclusive recruitment practices and providing equal access to development opportunities as the business grows.
4. Inclusive Working Culture
We promote open communication and encourage individuals to raise concerns if they feel excluded, discriminated against, or treated unfairly. All concerns will be handled promptly, fairly, and confidentially.
5. Training and Awareness
As a small organisation, we take a proportionate approach to training while remaining committed to raising awareness of equality and inclusion through induction, toolbox talks, and day-to-day management practices.
Monitoring and Continuous Improvement
Woodfelder Tree Care Limited is committed to reviewing its practices and, where appropriate, monitoring workforce composition to support fair and inclusive employment practices, recognising the wider challenges within the arboricultural sector.
Responsibility
Overall responsibility for this policy rests with the Director, Leo Woodfelder, who is responsible for its implementation and for promoting an inclusive culture by example. All team members share responsibility for acting in accordance with this policy.
Review
This policy will be reviewed annually, or sooner if required, to reflect changes in legislation, guidance, or company practices.
