We’re CHAS Advanced Accredited – What It Means

We’re proud to share that Woodfelder Tree Care is now CHAS Advanced Accredited — a nationally recognised standard that confirms our commitment to doing things properly when it comes to health, safety, and professionalism in tree surgery.

This isn’t just another badge. It’s evidence of how we work: carefully, responsibly, and with a constant focus on the safety of our team, our clients, and the public.

What is CHAS Advanced Accreditation?

CHAS stands for the Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme — one of the UK’s leading third-party schemes for assessing health and safety standards across industries.

The CHAS Advanced level is a step up from basic SSIP compliance. It includes full PAS 91 prequalification — a government-backed framework used by schools, housing associations, councils, and commercial clients to assess whether a contractor is safe and reliable.

For us, it means we’ve had our policies, insurance, training, and on-site procedures thoroughly reviewed and approved. We’re now pre-qualified to work with a wider range of commercial clients, and we’ve got the accreditation to prove it.

What It Means for Tree Surgery Work

Tree work is, by its nature, high-risk. Working at height with chainsaws, in unpredictable conditions, and often near buildings, roads, and power lines — it takes serious planning, the right equipment, and a trained, switched-on team.

CHAS Advanced accreditation confirms that we:

– Carry out detailed risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) before every job

– Use safe, well-maintained climbing and rigging equipment

– Have clear procedures for aerial rescue, emergency planning, and traffic/pedestrian management

– Ensure our team is trained, certified, and competent in every aspect of their role

– Meet the insurance and documentation standards expected by professional buyers

It shows that we’re not just good at tree work — we’re committed to doing it safely, professionally, and responsibly.

Looking After Our Staff

At the heart of this is our team.

Being CHAS Advanced Accredited means we’ve demonstrated how we:

– Provide proper induction, training, and ongoing development

– Conduct regular equipment checks and safety briefings

– Put in place robust systems for welfare, incident reporting, and support

– Involve our team in risk assessment and safety decisions

Tree work can be physically and mentally demanding. This accreditation is part of how we look after our people — not just by ticking boxes, but by putting their safety and wellbeing first every day.

What It Means for You
